LONDON, October 21. The Times, commenting on the inter-change-of messages bet ween/ the Emperor of Japan and Mr* Roosevelt, remarks that Australia and New Zealand are m-embers of a migbjby Empire -which is a great; Pacific Power, and with their well-^ directed aid. it may yet be the' greatest Pacific Power. ■ They at home' ,were sensible of their vital interests- in the Pacific, .and were^ rssoit^d, at wnatevep sacrifices, to uphold -them. TOKIO, October 2<. Japan desires a conference of the Powers interested in the Pacific to discuss and settle matters containing possibilities for future friction. It is stated that Japan is prepared to convene a conference unless Britain or America takes the initiative.
