A communication was received from the Christchurch Centre stating that that body had rescinded all previous resolutions, and had carried the following proposals: — "That the Christchurch Centre take the whole financial responsibility ; that the council make a grant of £50 for tho initial expenses, to be paid back out of the piofits." Tho Chairman pointed out that as they had a minute standing in their books that the association was to tako the financial lesponsibility of running tho Christchurch tournament, that motion would need to be rescinded before tho Christctiurch Centred I wishes could be acceded to. ' Mr C. Fraeer then gave notice of motion — " That the resolution approving of clause 9 of the report of the Finance Committee passed on July 15 be, and is hereby, rescinded, and that this council hereby agree j fo tho proposal of the Christchurch Centre to finance the association tournament, as set out in the letter of the secretary of tho Christohureh Centre, subject to clause 10 of tho constitution." A deputation from the Dunedin Centre, consisting of Messrs J. J. Marlow (president) and R. ,H. Scott (vice-president), waited on the council to ventilate the question of the proposed Dunedin Centre's tournament.

Mr Marlow pointed out that the Dunedin Centre, in wishing to hold its tournament, had no desire to clash with either the Oamaru or South Otago's tournaments. His centre's tournament would commence on Boxing Day, and end a couple of days before the New Year, on which date the South Otago tournament commenced 1 . Players taking part in tne Dunedin Centre's tournament would thus have plenty of time to take part in the South Otago games if they wished to. A large number of their players were unable to leave town, and such, a tournament as he proposed would be widely appreciated by local players. \ Members of tihe association stated that they were quite agreeable- to the centre holding a tournament seeing that suoli games would not interfere with outside fixtures, and on the motion of Mr Fraser, seconded by Mr Rennie, the following motion was adopted i—" That the application of the Dunedin Centre for permission to hold a. tournament beginning December 26 and finishing in time to allow ~ any bowlers who wish to take part in the South* Otago tournament to do «o if they desire, be granted." The preliminary programme, as presented, was also Agreed to.\ A cheque for £3, refund in connection with the late tournament, was received from the secretary of the Dunedin Centre The affiliafion of the Tapanui CSnb to the South Otago Centre was approved, subject to compliance with, the rules of j!be constitution of the- association. The Southland Centre wrote asking that it objected to the principle of the council financing tournaments. It was of opinion that the centre oontroling the tournament should be resposible for the whole of the financial arangements. It also, suggested that the 1910 or 1911 tournament should be held in Invercargill.— Th© protest the Southland Centre was received, and in rogard to the suggested tournament, it was decided to give the proposal favourablo consideration when the nubject of the next tourney came up for discussion. A eommiitee consisting: of Messrs Allan, DaJl, Rennie. Austin, and Fraser wes appointed to take into consideration the programme prepared by the Christchurcl* Centre for its tournament next year, and also the rules and regulations for the conduct of such tournament.
