MARSHAL NODZU.
YOKOHAMA, October 18. Marshal Noclzu, of Russo-Japanese Mar fame, is dead ; aged 68 years. Marshal Marquess Michiksura Norlzu was born at Sateiuna in 1840. He fought as a colonel in th-9 Japanese- civil war in 1877, and was raided to the rank of lieutenantgeneral in 1885, and to (hat of general hi 189*. He commanded the Hiroshima dnision. and later wa- commander of tha First Army during the China-Japaneee war in 1894-95. During this war he captured Pinyang. He was subsequently appointed Inspcotor-genoial cf Education. In the Rut€o-Japanc=o war he commanded ibe I Fourth Army.
