ALEXANDRA NOTES. (From Our Own Correspondent.) ALEXANDRA. October 13.

Much interest, is being taken in the elections to the Vincent County Council, which take place about the first week in November. In all probability Mr Charles Weaver will be returned for Earnsoleuqh Hiding unopposed, vice Mr John Butler, resigned. In the DunsEan lading two candidates are in the field, whilst for Munuherikia Riding there is a talk of three aspiranls. If Mr Horn consents to sland for Carrick Elding he will probably be elected chairman of the county. Judging by the present outlook, there is every indication of a bountiful crop of fruit in this district, as the few late frosts experienced have in no way affected the formation of the fruit. Word was received at Alexandra yesterday that a jrrant of £5000 appears on the Supplementary E^imates for the erection of a new post office. The present building is in an advanced stage of decay, and in the interests of public health should be condemned.

Whilst a thunder and hail storm wu racing in (ii«=borne a few days ago (says the Poverty Bay Herald), Mr Fred. Bourke met with a peculiar and painful accident. He had just started carving the dinner for ihe hoarders of the Record Reign Hotel, v.hen a flash of lightning came through th-o window, and, striking the knife in his hand, flashed up into hi* eyes, and rendered him stone blind lot «"*r an hour.
