SPORTS AT PALMERSTON.

The I4fch. inst. w«u» a gab day ot Palmer•ton on the occasion of thf annual sports meeting of the local Amateur Athletic Club. He is & pretty runner, and should be heard of in the future. At the end of tho first lap the nine runnera were in threes, Davies, Anderson, and M'Kenney being in th« lead. A lap later Anderson led by a couple of yards from M'Kenney, Meredith being just behind and Young •some yards away. The runners continued in this order until the fiifth lap, when , M'Kenney- withdrew and left Anderson leading by 10yds from Meredith. Young carao up, and a grand struggle ensued for second place, but Young was going well, j and ultimately pulled off a splendid finish by beating Anderson almost on the tape, Meredith being third.
