STON. \ A Palmerston correspondent kindly for* • wards the following report, under data August 31: — A match between the Palmerston CluH and a. combined team from the Dunback an* Waikouaiti Clubs took place on Fridass evening, 38th inst., in the Oddfellows' Hal*4 Palmerston. Thi9 turned out to be theJ largest gathering of draughts players thatf has ever met together in this district. The Paimerston members did now feel at all sure of the result of the matchv: but »b the score-sheets came in they Jeljn a bit more hopeful, and the final resultf showed that Palmerston had won by at majority of 16. _\he match was conclude* about 11 o'clock, after which the viaitoraj were entertained at supper.
