LADIES' INTERPROVINCIAL MATCH.

A DRAWN GAME. CHRISTOHURCH, August 30. The interprovincjal hockey match between teams of ladies representing Canterbury and Otago was played at Sydeniham Park yesterday afternoon before a large and enthusiastic gathering. The v teams were as follow: — Otago (Blue).— Goalkeeper, Miss M'Lean ; backs, 'Mi»es J. Cowie and K. Black; halves— Misses M. Gilmour, M. Broad (captain>, and M. Farran; forwards— Misses E. Traer, W. Speddinj?, F. Fisher, D. Gar- , diner, and T. Bull. Oantehbubt (Red-and-Blaok). — Goalkeeper, Miss V. Strange.; backs, Misses K. Thornton and M. Robinson ; halves — Misses "J. Lambie, M. Camobell (captain), axu\L. M. Rule; forwards— Misses J. M'Millan, \A- Rennie, Fl Goudie, M. Pearce, and A. Mason. Canterbury had the best of the bully, » and -fee ball was sent well into Otago's twenty-five, but was smartly returned. Miss Campbell was here noticeable for good stick play, and hit weH out to the wing, but Miss Bull hit out with a neat line shot. From the throw-out Mies M'Millan obtained possession of the ball, which she dribbled well into the circle. Miss Oowie relieved, and give-and-.ta.ke play followed, but a , long bit by Mias Robinson put Otago on the defensive. After a series of hard tussles- in the circle, Miss Gilmour found the line with a splendid hit. Miss Thorn- i ton caved baliian&y by conceding a corner. Miss Campbell, with a flying hit. passed out to Miss Rennie, mho ran well into Otago territory, but Mias Gilmouar -caved. Miss Fisher dribbled the ball halt -the length of the ground, Miss Thornton returning with a Hard shot up the line. Miss Goudie obtained posee*=ion of th« ball from the bully, but Miss Oowi© was very safe, and sent play back to midfield, and a good rush, in which Mieses Fisher, Spedding, and Fraer participated, nearly ended in another ecore. which was caved by Mies Straiige. Even play, chiefly in miofield, followed, but a mistake by the Red backs let Otago through, Miss Gardiner finding the nets with a stood shot. Canterbury 2 goals. Otago ■ 2 goals. Both sides were now on their mettle, but the Blues persisted in their attack. The ball waa gradually, worked back into Otago's territory, but without result, the defence of Mies M'Lean (in goal) being exceptional.
