The Tourist Department has received a letter from an Anglo-Indian civilian who purposes coming to the Dominion to undertake farming if, in the opinion of the department, he is justified in coming- with his small capital. He eaya he has only £3000 in cash, and nothing in the world besides except £500 & year. He asks, " Can I live on this in New Zealand?" It is understood the department will be optimistic in ite reply. Since July 1, 1908, 33,723 bales of wool have been ahipped from Sydney and Newcastle, as against 25,277 bales for the corresponding period of last season— au mC£A&«« of 84-46 balea.
