MINING DISASTERS.
- NEW YORK, August 27. Tnere is fire In the Haileyville coal mine, in the State of Oklahoma. It is believed that 30 men were suffocated. So far 26 bodies have been recovered.
LONDON, Auiguet 28.
A fire in the Lipton Valley colliery, at Burnley, destroyed the pithead, entombing 15 men, who escaped eafely by an air road to the surface after two had been overtaken by fumes and almost suffocated.
Fire broke out in the main shaft of the Shawfield mine (Lanarkshire), and de- : molished the pithead framework and ingsEighty miners escaped by way of the other shafts.
