! - WAY. | Gjl&x>Oj.-4NE, August 22. ' A meeting of the East Coast Railway League appointee! Captain Tucker, M.L.C., to attend with the Auckland delegation to Ministers The league resolved to send congratulations to 'the Minister of Public Works on the successful opening of the Wellington-Auckland rail-, way, and offering wannest thanks for the activity at present displayed on the Gis-' borne -Rotorua line ; suggesting further that work for unemployed exists still on the line, and that the coming summer would enable it to be productively employed. It was reeolved to send the following telegram to tho Hon. J. Carroll : — " The Railway League offer heartiest congratulations and good wishes on your "birthday ;N and desire to acknowledge and tKank you for your good offices in causing that activity now apparent on the line, which, if continued, must carry it rapidly to a paying point." It was stated that some 130 to 140 men . were now employed. {
