SATISFACTORY ENTRIES.

The list of entries for the various sections of the Dunedin competitions is now ' practically complete, only about half a , dozen being held back for further examina- i tiota. The total number of entries received j is 810, as against 751 last year, and this IB considered very satisfactory. The \ principal increases are found in the elocu- j ikxn and junior musical sections, while the eemior piano 6ections 6how a considerable

falling- off. Six competitions for brass instruments have been included this year, and have drawn 20 entries. Another newfeature is the comedietta, for which two entries have been received. Competitors have entered from Invercargill, Christchurch, Wellington, and various country districts. Invercargill will be particularly I well represented, more than 60 entries i having been received from the southern [ city.
