BOAT RACE. SYDNEY, August 24. Two hundred thousand people witnessed the review of th 4 naval and military forces in Centennial Park, where 14,000 men and Cadets were under arms, including 260 American sailors and marines. Lord Northcote, Sir H. Rawson, Admiral Sperry, the other admirals, Mr Deakin, and the 16 captains of tlie American fleet were present at the saluting base. The review was the finest ever seen in Australia. After the review the troops marched back to Sydney. The streets were thronged with hundreds of thousands of spectators. The glorious weather enhanced the brilliant spectacle. A great boat race between the champion crew from the Louisiana a. id a dozen, of the Illinois' beet men, for a Etake of
28,000d01, wa6 rowed across the heads from near Manly to Clark Island, a distaaice of three miles and a-half. Each 6hip contributed 14-,ooodol. The Illinois crew got away first, but the Louisiana men, who were rowing better, drew level in the first quarter of a mile, and at the end of a mile had six" lengths' advantage, eventually winning by 20 lengths.
