THE PROCESSION.
GOHGEOUS DECORATIONS. SYDNEY, August 21. Aftsr the reception a procession, headed by -the fleet bands and led by the Lord Mayor and aldermen, -followed by tno admirals and .their staffs in carriages, left the Domain by the- Bent street gates, andt proceeded via Macquarie College- Park, Elizabeth, Bathurst, and George (Streets, Martin -place, Pitt, -Bridge, and 'Macquarie streets to Mrs Macquarie's Point, in the Domain, where the officers and men; of the were -entertained at a picnic and lunch. The streets were elaborately-decorated— < notably Macquarie telreet, Martin place* Citizen avenue, .Park street, American avenue, .and Pitt street. Venetian: masts line the sides of ,the streets, and thousands of flags, the Stars and Stripes predominating, flutter everywhere, undl strung from the side streets are -flags, interspersed with shields and other emblematic signs, mottos, and greetings. Tbs greenery in Martin place was a blaze of colour. Tall white -plaster colramns iflanfc each side, and are capped with golden eagles and crowns, long streamers in many-coloured drapery roofing the streeti over, wreathing and greenery giving the; finishing effect. Ivlacquarie street provides a splendid picture. The procession of such a large body of visitors, -rifle on shoulder, and their smart) appearance and splendid discipline -raised' enthusiasm to concert pitch. The tramp of marching feet constantly punctuated and drowned the rolling bursts of cheering as the men threaded their way through the sea of people who packed from end to end the long route. Bands were stationed at various points and discoursed music. The people fully entered into -the splriS of the welcome, and everywhere enthusi* asm, good humour,, and camaraderie pre* vailed-
