Sib, — From an extract which you published from the New Zealand! Times I see .that Mr Ritchie, Secretary for Agriculture, .gives it as his opinion, that the Sheep.breeders' Association should appoint enough .inspectors to enable each breeder to select .his own fancy to .cull and grade his flock. .This no^*J idea is-disputed by Air T. Heid, -who wants no ranvbreeder appointed as an •inspector. I was <not aware -that Mr Reid •was an authority -on Border- Leicester sheep •till the Sheep-breeders' Association .made •him one. I observed in th&' New Zealand 'Times a garbled rteport of Mr Archibald's reply to Mr Little's first letter, both of which appeared: in "your columns in the first instance. Surely it cannot help a cause, or that cause is needing help sadly, when anyone will stoop to try to convey an erroneous impression by -vvithhoidinK parts of a letter and passing personal comments so as to convey a meaning not there at all. It ie indeed gratifying to see the North, Island sheep-breeders are going to have none of this inspection. This matter was brought up at the last meeting of on© of the most important metropolitan agricultural and pastoral societies in the Dominion, where many of the most prominent studmastere we have were present, and it was with no uncertain voice that they condemned the wholesale abolition of private rights which this ■ inspection scheme aims at, as well as the presumptive, impertinence of one rival breeder culling another's flock simply beea.nee he has been, asked to do so by an association. — I am, etc., Umpire.
