IRREGULAR PRACTICES.
AUCKLAND, August 14. Five cases were brought before Mr Northcroft, S.M., at Pukekohe yesterday by the Registrar of Electors. Margaret Brown, of Pokeno, was charged (two cases) with witnessing signatures without having seen the signatures written. She - was convicted and ordered to pay, the costs (£1 10s 6d) in each case.
Henry Hicks, for procuring the signatures of Margaret Brown as a witness without having seen' the signature of Martha Hicks written, was fined 10s and costs (£1 10s 6d). Hicks vra» also charged with having procured the signature of Margaret Brown as a witness without having seen the signature of Henry Hicks written- He" wae convicted and ordered to pay the costs (£<l 10s 6d). Martha Hicks, charged with having signed the name of another person as claimant, was convicted and ordered to pay costs (£1 10s 6d).
