QUEENSLAND PRECAUTIONS. WELLINGTON, August 13. The importation into Queensland is prohibited of the following nlants : Potatoes from New Zealand and all other countries in which the disease caused by phytophthora infestans (potato blight) exists: plants or portions of plants of all and every specks of vines from New Zealand and all other countries in which phylloxera vastatrix (grape vine blight) is known to exist.
Yine-frrowinjr is receiving a fillip this season, no less than 2.0,000 grafted vines having been 6ent out to various grower? from the Arataki Government Vineyard. At the Arataki and Waercnp;a vineyards the staffs are dealiner with requests for vines on resistant stocks : but they are more than can be supplied. The varieties are generally more suitable for the table than for wine-makinjj.
