SALE OF HORSES.

The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company (Limited) reports holding a clearing sale of horses and implements at Balclutha Yards on Thursday last on account of Mr Simon Wright. The horses, which were a well-bred and thoroughly sound loi, attracted buyers from as far north as Timaru. The sale was most successful in every respect, each of the 22 horses offered bringing very satisfactory prices. The following are some of the prices realised : — Geldings — four years, £48 and £46; six years, £42 10s, £38, £35; three years, £41; five years, £38; four years, £35 10s; hacks, to £30, two-yeari olds, to £28. The implements and sundries were in first-class order, and each lot was keenly competed for. Drays brought £14 15s to £11 15s; ploughs, to £11 6s, etc.

The same company (who sold Messrs Foster Bros.' freehold farm at Table HiH, Milton, .to Mr David Hall, of Orari) reports holding a successful clearing sale at the above farm op Friday last. The ■weather was perfect, and buyers were present from all parts of the district. The sheep sold particularly well at the following prices: — Ewe hoggets. 17s 9d; soundmouth ewes, to 22s 6d ; full-mouth ewes, to 10s; hoggets (mixed sexes), 14s 7d and 12s 6d : two-tooth wethers. 13s 9d and 13s The horses, which were mostly aged, brought up to £32; dairy cows, to £7 7s 6d.
