FOURTEEN DESERTERS.
AUCKLAND, August 17. In all, 14 cases of desertion from the battleships were reported to the Auckland police. Eleven have been accounted for, and the other three are supposed to be " lying low."
It has .been estimated that the men of the American fleet alone spent at least £20,000 during their stay in Auckland.
