ANNUAL MEETING

WELLINGTON, August 13. The annual meeting of the Wellington Meat Export Company -was held to-day. The chairman (Mr W. G. Foster) stated' that during the year equivalent to 645,899 sheep were handled, an increase of 15,203 on the previous year. Of the 545,899 sheep put through 127,090 had been, frozen by the owners, who in so doing had in most cases had the specific desire of supporting the company, which was originally purely a farmers' company, an<? still hacf a wide and influential connection in the country. images during the past 18 months "could fcarcely be placed at tefe than 7£ per cebt., and, on this basis, the extra, amount paid by the company to th© workers during the 12 months ended June 30th •would exceed £3500. Notwithstanding owing to improved appliances and no increase had been made in the freezing- and other charges, which would have been severely felt. Th« capital expenditure for the year waa £13,866, of which £8490- was for plant and its erection and £5735 for new premises. The company waa now to be congratulated upon having the beat fellanpngery in the Aiistralasian colonies; The retiring directors (Messrs J. W. i^arehall and W. H. Beetham) were elected, without opposition. The rejqctoneration was fixed at £800, the came as in previous years.
