THE BUTTER MARKET. SYDNEY. August 11.
The dairy merchants, following the example of M-el bourne, to-day dropped the price of butter 40s per cwt. A further decrease is expected before the end of the -week. Heavy supplies are coming forward.
SYDNEY, August 13. The price of butter has been reduced another 20s per cwt.
WELLINGTON*. August 10. The Department of Industries and Commerce has received cable advice from its Melbourne agent stating that a butter famine exists in Victoria. Butter is being sold at Is per lb wholesale, and the market is rising.
