A CLERICAL SCANDAL
♦ THE CASE OF CANON NASH. LONDON, March 15. Mr J. S. Faulkner, of Geelong, who waa sent to England by the sympathisers oi the Rev. C. H. Nash, formerly incumbent oi Christ Church, Geelong, to investigate th« charges of misconduct against Mr Nasb while curate at Huddersfield, Yorkshire-, has made prolonged inquiries. He states) that he has not been able to find a trace of anything to justify a charge of any Irincl against Mr Naah. Dr Moule (Bishop of Durham) informed Mr Faulkner that h0 could not recall the source of his statement! to the Archbishop of Sydney in regard to misconduct on the part of Mr Nash. Ho accepted the writer's bona-fides at the time, but he must now consider that tn« statement wa6 based on rumour. Mr Faulkner has not f?) seen Canon Bardsley, who was vicar at Huddersfield when Mr Nash was curate there. Canon Bardsley has given other details of a serious gravity respecting the incident which happened in his (Bardsley's) family. Thie incident, Canon Bardsley states, led! to Mr Nash's expulsion from the vicarage, and to his (Bardsley's) intervention to px»« vent Mr Nash's promotion.
