Mr J. Fitzsimmons jun., nephew of Bob Fitzsimmons, a former world's champion pugilist, and himself the heavy-weight ohampion of Canada, has returned to Tima.ru, but has not yet settled what his future plans are to be. The wrestlers and athletes of India develop the greatest strength by subsisting chiefly on milk, with a little goat'e flesh and plenty of farinaceous food. ROWING CHAMPIONSHIPS. AUCKLAND, March 15. 1 At the Auckland Rowing Association's championship regatta this afternoon the principal events resulted as follows: — Senior Fours.—North Shore 1, St. Georg* 2. Maiden Single Sculls.—H. B. Harper 1. _ Maiden Fours.—Waitemata No. 1, 1; North Shore No. 2, 2. Champion Sculls.—T. Richards (Waitemata) 1, W. Westray (Waitemata) 2. Maiden Pairs.—Waitemata (row-over) 1. Junior Fours.—West End (row-over) 1. Maiden Double Sculls.—Auckland I. Maiden Fours (open).—West End 1, Waitemata No. 2, 2. Senior Double Sculls.—St. George 1. Junior Fours (open).—West End 1. Marshall Cup, Single Sculls Handicap.— Clark (Kopu), 15sec, 1; W. Weatray (Waitemata), 12sec, 2. Youths' Fours.—Waitemata (row-over) 1. The Waitemata Boating Club's senior crew left for Napier this afternoon to take par* in the rowing championships. The crew ia probably the best in the Auckland province. The North Shore light-weight crew, which met with its first defeat this season to-day, will leave for Napier on Tuesday. SWIMMING. AUCKLAND, March 13. At the Waitemata Swimming Club's Carnival to-night M. E. Champion lowered tho New Zealand record for one mile by lmin. 3 4-586 C, swimming the distance in 27min 13 2-ssec. He leaves to-morrow to compete n. the Napier championships. WELLINGTON, March-15. The championship amateur swimming carnival, held in the Thorndon Baths on Saturday afternoon, was generally successful, considering that the weather was cold and threatening, with a strong, changeable . wind. Most of the events were well contested, and the Nelson and Canterbury competitors fairly maintained their reputations'. The placed men in the 50 Yards Interclub Race were: C. Bryant (Christchurch) 1, A. Allan (Nelson) 2. J. Emmerson (Nelson) 3. Time, 35sec. P. Schwartz (Christchurch) won the interclub neatest header competition. The placed men in the sixth heat—Eramerson, Allan, and Kelly —are Nelson representatives. The New Zealand Water Polo Championship was -frpn by Wellington by four goals to nil against the Nelson team, and by two goals to one against Christchurch.
