PRESBY TERIANISM IN NEW ZEALAND.

THE 1906 CENSUS OUTSIDE OF OTAGO. (Compiled by the Rev. Robert Wood.) In a. recent issue of the Otagt> Daily Times particulars were given of the Presbyterian population in all the boroughs and I oountiea of Otago, showing the increase or decrease m numbers since the census of 1901. Tue following figures deal with all the borjoue^hs and counties in the Dominion outside of Otago. The first eet of figures deals with Pre&bytcrianism -in the North Island, in the provinces of Auokland, Taranaki, Hawke's Bay, and Wellington. The total Presbyterian population in these provinces amounts to 79,458 —an increase of 17,309 since 1901. The asterisk at the names of boroughs and counties means that thc-ae came into existence after the census of 1901, and co no information can be given about increase or decrease in Presbyterian population. 1.-THE NORTH ISLAND. 1. IL-IN SOUTH ISLAND OUTSIDE OTAGQ. The following figures deal with the Ties* byterian population in the provinces ofl Marlborough, Nelson, Wesbland, and Canterbury. The total Presbyterian population of these provinces in 1905 amounted! to 42,001, an increase of 5643 since 1901:— • 1. In these boroughs in 1901 there wag a Presbyterian population of 3282, so tho ao tual Presbyterian increase in Christchurctt boroughs is not 4783, but 1601. 2.
