At a conference last week of representatives of the workers in the shop and factory tailoring trades, the object boinpf to gather opinions in regard to the proposed j importation of labour, the feeling was dis- j tinctlv averse to the proposal. It was j stated that a branch of one firm's business had closed, and the firm was unable to absorb 12 tailoresspt, who had l;cen engaged in the branch. Tho opinion vvas expressed that the present pressure would not continue throughout the winter months. Tt was al-so pointed out that, for eight months in the year in the other section of the trade there was a great deal of broken time.
