ALLEGED CARGO BROACHING.
CHRISTCHURCH. January 23. A case of alleged cargo-broaching was brought to light at Lyttelton yesterday and the prompt action of the police and the Customs officials resulted in the arrest of se\en firemen belonging to the steamer Papanui on a charge of stealing from cases in the steamer's hold a large quantity of goods, valued at over £60. The men appeared before t>e Magistrate's Court today and were i*«4 "landed till February 5.
