The appointment of George F. Pearce as Acting-consul for Sweden at Wellington is gazetted, and of Joseph F. Dyer as vice- j consul for Greece at Wellington. j The order forbidding postal correspondence for Mrs Towler, Dunedin, is removed. The forwarding of postal correspondence or the issue of money orders for Chester Howard, Hobart, Tasmania, is forbidden. Tenders have been received as follows: Erection of courthouse, Waitara, William \Howson, New Plymouth, £775 19b 8d; erection of police station at Newmarket, A. Clarke, Mount Eden, £1899. The Post and Telegraph revenue for the Dominion during the quarter ended De- j cember 31 last was £227,692, compared with I £203,85) for the corresponding quarter of 1906. The excess of deposits over withdrawal? at the savings banks* throughout the Dominion during the quarter ended December 31, 1907, was £234,910. For the corresponding quarter of the previous year the excess was £299,877.
