Mackenzie, M P., wired his regret that a previous engagement rendered his presence impossible. Young and olcl alike all entered heartily into the various games and conteats, and made the gathering a thorough success. Boys' foot, Back, an<i thrce-lekged races and girls' foot-races were keenly contested, £2 being distributed aal prize-money- Special prizes for boys antf gins' races, given by the Bay, J. J. Cairney, also excited strong competition. Abundant* and excellent refreshments provided oy M'G-regor Bros., of Palmerston, received ample justice- On the motion of tha Rev* J. j. Cairney, a hearty vote of thanks to tha committee brought to ft oloee ono of th£ most enjoyable picnics held at Flag Swamp.
