Resolutions were passed placing on record the Senate's regret at the loss by death of Sir James Hector, the Rev. J. C. Andrew, and Mr W. D. Milne. A long discussion took place on a motion by Mr Baume, M.P., that the Senate should seek power from Parliament to establish a degree of Bachelor of Literature. Eventually the motion was carried.
