WELLINGTON, January 30. The annual meeting of the Board of Governors of the New Zealand Institute is being held to-day, Mr G. M. Thomsor presiding. The annual report stated that the members on the roll of various incorporated! societies were as follow : —Auckland, 104; Wellington, 101; Canterbury, 147s Otago>. 116; Hawke's Bay, 46; Nelson, 35 f Westland, 46; Manawatu, 63; total, 713. Thd amount standing to the credit of the Carter bequest, on 31st December was £261J 11» lOd. The balance sheet for the year showed a credit of £361 5s lid. t A committee was appointed to examine the books of the society, and determine' their ownership; also to insure the book» now in the museum for a sum not exceed* ing £2000. . . « .. The report of the Publications Commit* tee was adopted, recommending that summaries of scientific papers be prepared foe circulation. . The report of the Hutfon research fund showed the amount to credit of the fund* to be 663. A committee was appointed to make arrangements for awarding the me* morial medal. , _ The research, fund is to be transferred! to the N.Z. Institute, and the Memorial Committee discharged. Oflfteers for the ensuing year were ap< pointed as follows:— President, Mr G. M. Thomson ; treasurer, Mr Chapman, JS..U. |] secretary, Mr T. King; editor of Transac* tions, Mi- G. M.
