The Waihi Miners' Union has paeaed al resolution that this union respectfully wago upon -the Hon. the Minister for Mines not to reduce the service time in mine 3of candidates for mine managers' certificates, aa urged by Professors Park and Jarmß, such reduction in favour of University School ot Mines graduates or any others being con~ sidered by this union to be detrimental to the safely of the men employed in mines. _ The Arbitration Court award and. the interpretation set upon several clauses, which have not been hailed with a*tisfaotion by the union for some time, were -discussed at rema length, and it >was decided tp hora a special meeting on Fetauary 8 to consider lha question of cancelling jegastration as an yi« du3trial union. „
