A fair amount of wheat is offering, and sales are being made io 4s 3d and 4s 31d at country stations, the following lines being repoxted a^ having changed hands- — 4250 bushels of Tuscan at 4s 3-id, 560 bushels at 4s 3d, 3600 bushels of pearl at 4? 3Jd. and 200 bushels of Hunters at the same money. There ir not so nmcli doing m oats, the demand having eased off. A hne of 1000 bushels of Gartons has been sold at 2s 2d at a. country station. Prime malting barley is saleable at quotations, but second quality is evidently not required. Clean seconds ha\ c been sold at 2s 6d to 2s 8d f o.b. Cocksfoot buyers are now operating freely, and the samples coming forward are bright, clean, and heavy. During the last few days one large line of specially clean seed, weighing 15lb per bushel, changed hands at ssd, and 12Mb and 13lb seed, t^ice riddled, is readily saleable at sid to sid. Ryegrnss is in special demand for the North. Island, where, owing to the extent of the recent bush fixes, large areas will be available for surface sowing. The preference is v for guaranteed old pasture seed, weighing 301b to the bushel, machine dressed, and such seed has been sold at 5» to 5s 3d f.c.b. Italian ryegrass is being shipped north for orders n.3 fast as the machines can put it through, and one or two firms are running their machine on three shifts. Butter has been advanced a penny per lb all round, in consequence of the dry weather shortening supplies. The undermentioned are the prices paid to farmers at country stations, free of commission, except where otherwise abated: — Wheat. — New is 3d to 43 4d, at country stations. Oats. — New 2s 2d, lightei samples 2s to 2? 2d, at oountry stations. Barley. — Prime malting 5s to 5s 6d. medium 4s 6d to 4s 9d, at oountry station?. Rye Grass. — Perennial 2s 6d to 3s 6d, Italian good grade 3s to 3s 6d. Cocksfoot.— lslb seed sid, 12ilb to 131b seed 51d to 5Jd. Flour. — £11 per km. Bran. — £4 10s per ton. Pollard.— £s 10s. Oatmeal. — £15. Oatsheaf chaff, immediate delivery £3 ss, forward delivery £3, at country stations. Dairy Produce. — Cheese, factory sd, dairy 5Jd to 5Jd, loaf cheese 6jd. Butter, factory 12Jd, farmers' separator lid, dairy lOd. Bacon, sides- B^d, rolls 9d ; hams 9d. Honey, extracted, 4d per lb; wax, Is 2d per lb. Eggs, 12d per dozen.
