"I'm extremely sorry, sir," 6aid a farmer ■to a-famous lawyer who rented a country seat adjoining his little farm. "That's all very well," the lawyer replied sourly; "but the law plainly holds you responsible, and you must make good the •damage." "But how can I be to blame?" urged the farmer- "The bulls fought, and one got lulled." "Oh, you can't get out of it in that way! •Owners of dangerous animals are responsible for the damage they do. The law is quite explicit on the eobjeot. "That's the law, is it?"
"Y«s." ♦Then rii stand by the law. Bat in relating tha incident I made one slight mis•take. It was your bull lhat killed mine!"
