LABOUR. REPORT.
Central liabomr 'Exchange^ Arcade, Dun-edin-(W.*E. S. Knight) reports the labour ■business 'during "tho past two weeks- as being pariienslarly brisTi with farm workers, labourers, and ffaxmill h*nds. There, is- only & very slight diema-nd for turnip-thiniiera and harvesters at present. ThresHing-mill work is now coming--in from Canterbury, and is readily picked up- hero, -the men preferring 'it to mast other" situations offering. The ruling wages at present are:- Threshfng-tnill hands - (Canterbury)— Oats, 10s per 1000 wheat, lls per 1000 bushels; water boys-, 25s> cooks, 40s; ploughmen, 25s>; milkers, 22s -6d, 255; shepherds (difficult to obtain at J6SO per annum); labourers, 93' daily.
