The Electric Power and Lighting Committee' reports and recommends that an offer be mad< for the supply of electrical energy to the Otagc Gr&nite Brick Company (Ltd) at the rate o.' .36 of a penny at a voltage of 400, electricitj to be available for 21 hours for 175 days oi the year, and for 20 hcurs per- day for 121 days per year. In the event of the company using electricity during the four hours pel day of five months per year the charge to be at the, rate of lid per unit. A quotation in th« following terms be made for the supply of electrical energy to the Burnside Hydraulic Lima and Cement Company (Ltd.): For 300 days per year of 24 hours, one-third of a penny per unit; for 24 "hours per day for 175 days per year at the rate of three-tenths of a penny per unit; for SO hours per day for five months in the year «t tEe rate of three-tenths of a penny per unit ; for four hours per day for five months in the year at tho rate of 1.48 of a penny per unit. Prices to remain in force until secojjci installation is put in operation, when there will be a reduction in price proportionate to the loss of power which would be sustained if -such energy were transmitted to the main ■üb-atation nearest the centre of the Octagon in the City of Dunedin. The above condition* to be' based on the supply of 200 h.p. at tho. works, Burnside, the company to furnish ita own transformers. If the company desires $ contract for a period of seven years it musi: guarantee a minimum use of one-half of ths estimated amount of its contract. Authority be granted to invite tenders for the construction of ,a dam at Loch Lqudon, Bridge Creek, Waiparij_ after test-holes . for same have been sunk by the electrical engineer. The tende£ of Messrs Tumbull and Jones (Ltd.) fox tha. supply and delivery of traction battery for the sum of £2391 5s be accepted. Tenders bet called for the supply and delivery of one higlipressure plunger pump, required to augmenjr the supply 'of the governor dam by returning the waste water from the discharge, of the governor to the penstock pipe from the governor dam. The city solicitors h«ve been in* s true ted as follows: — Complete the agreement with the. Dunedih and Kaikorai Tramway Company (Ltd.) foe wayleave and supply of electricity; prepare the agreement for the* supply of electricity for lighting in the Borough of Mornington, that borough having accept*^ this council's offer. In consequence of th» present low price of copper an order for the whole oi tn* reticulation wire be placed at once, at an* estimated cost of £3000. Authority be granted to run a circuit for power and light from* Cumberland street sub-station to Anderson'*' Bay quarry, by way of Cumberland street, for St. Olair and Museelburgh districts, the elec* trical engineer to furnish complete details oi cost as early as possible.
