SHIPWRECK RELIEF SOCIETY.
A meeting of the Emergency Committee, of the Shipwreck Relief Society was held on the 2nd inst. in the office of tho secretary {Mr E. D. Grace) for the purpose of making arrangements for assisting the survivors of the wrecked ship Dundonald, The Mayor (Mr J. Loudon) presided, and Mr J. A. Park and Captain Strang were also present. The secretary submitted telegrams received from the Mayor of Invercargill, whioh stated that the local Collector of Customs was attending to the needs of the men, that £37 had been subscribed, and that in the absence of any agent for the ship in New Zealand, _ Lloyd's representative had cabled to the English owners asking for instructions. — Reee i ved . On the motion of Mr Park it wa» resolved that the secretary write to the Mayor of Invercargill stating that if he finds more funds necessary he is authorised to draw on the society to the extent of £25, and explaining that this is the limit to which the Emergency Committee can go, but the society would be pleased to have' any further suggestions he can make, and if anything beyond this amounj is required, the secretary to also ask the Mayor if he will act on behalf of the eooiety in Invercargill as to. the disbursement ©i aav relieL.
