MASSACRE OF ARMENIANS
SERIOUS OUTBREAK REPORTED.: BERLIN, November 27. The German newspapers report a serious renewal of the Armenian massacres under (the notorious Ibrahim Pasha. One hundred and forty villages are said to have been destroyed in the province of Diabeki. In 1895 and 1896 terrible massacres of Armenians took place in Anatolia at the hands of the Kurds, who were probably «ided, and certainly not hindered, by the regular Turkish garrison. In 1896, on the ground that a dangerous conspiracy was on root, -the authorities connived at a massacre of Armenians in Constantinople, in, which over 2000 are believed to have perished. This produced a strong joint protest from the Powers, followed by the re-establishment of some semblance of order in the disturbed districts. A PanArmenian congress nwl at Brussels in 1902 and formed a permanent international committee to watch over Armenian interests and promote reform.
