POLLUTION OF KAIKORAI STREAM
The committee appointed by the Ta'm County Council to interview the Dunedin City-Council, re pollution of the Kaikorsii Stream by discharge from the abattoirs reported as follows at the County Council meeting:— Cr# Blaokie and Stevenson, in company with his Worship the Mayor of Dunedin, visited the abattoirs and the drainage from came into >he Kaikorai Stream, and were unanimous in the opinion that the City Council was doing all in Hs power to prevent the pollution of the stream, and that they had instructed the solicitor* to adjourn the court proceedings pending against the corporation till after the next meeting of the council. The above inspection took place on Wednesday, October 30. On November 20 Crs Blackfe, -Stevenson, and Miller, accompanied by Cr Blair, inspected the stream and found the discharge from the abattoirs drain into the stream of a very satisfactory nature. The committee* unapt, mous opinion was:— "That the City Council is doing all it can in the meantime to stop the pollution of the Kaikorai Stream" ; and it further recommends that the case be withdrawn. The report was adopted and the recommendation approved, Cr Samson alone voting against it.
