The deaths in October were 270— a decrease of 10 oa, the number in September. Of the total deaths males contributed 129, females 141. Forty-six of the deaths worn of children under five years of age, being- 17.0* per cent, of the whole number, and 35 of these were under one year ofc ajre. There wera 88 deaths of persons of 65 /eamr- and upwards. Five men (73, 74, 74, 75, and 82) and 10 women (6?. 70, 72, 72, 74, 74, 74, 8L 83, and 88) died at Auckland; sev«n men.
