SECOND GRADE. The match Dunedin No. 1 v. Grange was Commenced on the Caledonian Ground. Grange, batting first, were disposed of for 7i9 rope, R. Johnston batting well for 26, wbUe H. Wright (15) and A. Robinson uS) also showed good form. W. Maelean (four for 14) and J. T. Wilson (two lor 6) bowled best for the Dunedin. On Xhwedin going in to bat they responded mitOx 77, Whitty batting nicely for 27, while Goyen (11) and J. Melville (10) also reached double figures. Booth (13) batted well for St. Martin's. Weatheretone, Reekie, and Kirkwood snared the bowling honours. The crioket season in Auckland opened yesterday In fine weather and in the pretence of a large number of spectators. Eden Seniors made 185 and North Shore 39 runs for three wickets. For Eden W. B. Smith ancde 48, Cf. B. Oummings 46. and H. Hobson 40. In their first innings City made 112 (Grainger 43, Hcuus 23) and Parnell 46 for two wickete (R. Barry 26).
