GRAND OPERA IN AUCKLAND.

. AUCKLAND, July 25. The epidemic of indisposition reported from Sydney in connection with the grand opera company has appeared in Auckland. When the company arrived, it cut out the firet matinee, which was to have taken place thia afternoon, and a number of country people who had turned up were disappointed, no announcement of the fact having been advertised. " Carmen" was performed as promised last night, but " Tannhauser" was to have come on tonight. When the audience arrived it found huge placards posted about the theatre stating that, owing to the indisposition of Herr Ludermann, the piece could not be played, and it has now l>een postponed till next week. " Faust" was put on in its place, but instead of starting at the advertised time V>f 7.40 it did not begin till 8, and at 11 o'clock the second last act was only opening. A number of people left the theatre before the close. Much indignation is expressed.
