WELLINGTON WING WHISPERS.

, \ By Bt RoMPTKi.

July 26. Dear Pasqttin.—Another rather quiet week. Mr Harry Rickards's vaudeville company i 3 just finishing it 3 three weeks' season in our Opera House, concluding to-morrow night. The company goes nqjrth. Tip-top business continues to be done by Fullers' Entertainers at the Theatre Royal. Madame Teresa Carreno, the comely pianiste from South America and Europe, opens her season here next Monday evening. Byron's " Blow for Blow" is to be given in | th-> Opera Horse by one of our amateur ] dramatic clubs next Wednesday and Thursday. Montgomery's Entertainers take possession of the Opera House next Saturday evening. A man with a memory drops me the following notes after hearing Mis 3 Amy Blackie'3 sweet, full tones at the Theatre Royal: — During her long career I recall the names of Amy Stevens (" a gilt-edged album of comic songs"), Annie Lamont, Pattie Bavin, Nellie Herley, Ldzzie Roselle, Lorrie St. George, Maggie Coghlan, Kate Carey, Violet Kingsley, Eiiby Clifford, Buby (Jordan, Florrie de Gay, Ada U»r«s, M«? &«-lTilI« £&c Uaitltuid iuglrt-

[ ingaJe), Blanche Gerard, Connie Devereux, Florrie St. Clair, Lillie Linton, Lily Warren, i Annie Lewis, Tessie Cleveland, Ethel Mackay, ; Florrie Sfihuler, and dozens of other stars, | some of whom, are still twinkling (but very faintly), while Amy Blackie is still frontranker. Miss Blackie came -to thia colony 20 years ago with Moore and Ashton's Mammoth Minstrels, which included Herr Florack (recently here with Charles Holloway), Harold Ashton (No. 1 agent with J. C. W.), FredTurner ("Alice, where art thou?"), Douglas Hamilton, Charles Faning, Delohery, Craydon (Jim), and Ho-Uand (the triple statue olog). Wai Cottier (just the plain oomedian), Wood—aird Brothers (in a triple-bar act)., Lizzie Desmond^ Josephine Smith, Violet Kingsley, Ad* Maitland, and "Mdlle. Albani" (Amy Blackie). Where are those mummers now? Ask Miss Blackie. Perhaps Jimmie Craydon knows. By the way, anotheT singer of yesterday still with us is Little Octavia (of the comedy team Octavia and Warne), who sang in this eolon*y 15 year 3 ago with Wills's Surprise Party. Mention of Jimmie Craydon reminds me that the Barton Sisters were •through here 12 years ago with " Sinjin's" Panto. Company. | j I
