C. R Sainsbury has defeated J. A. Connell in the contest for the championship of Gisborne Chess Club. It is now announced that the chess match between the Otago and Canterbury Chess Clubs will commence next Saturday, August 3, at 7 o'clock p.m. It is expected to last over the two following Saturday nights. Millinp, undeterred by the striiggle for existence amongst the chess magazines already in being, intend next pionth to bring out a new one, " The Chess Ke\iew," which is to appear fortnightly, at the price of 2Jd a copy, or 3d post free Various attractive features are promised.
