The weekly meeting of the O.rt.F.U. Committee was held on Monday evening, Mr 6. W. C. Maedonald presiding. COBBESPONDEKCE. The Secretary Roxburgh Club wrote stating that the referee in the match with Miller's Flat had awarded the latter team 4 points for a "speculator," but admitted his mistake after a perusal of the rule book. The Secretary High School Club wrote asking permission for the School Fourth Grade team and the Fifth Grade team to play Waitaki High School's First and Second teams. The referees appointed in the matches School v. Kaikorai Fourth and School v.. Union had not appeared. — Permission granted, the matter re referees being 1 referred to the Referees' Association. The Secretary Vincent County Sub-union wrote asking for the usual grant for expenses in connection with the Vincent team's visit during country week. — Left in the hands of the Finance Committee. The Secretary Kaikorai Club wrote objecting to the Kaikorai team being sent to Outram to play West Taieri twice in one season, and requesting the union to defray expenses. — Request declined. Mr A. Martin, referee,' reported a Shag P<int player for unnecessary tackling in the match Shag Point v. Palmerston.— The usual course was adopted. , GENERAL. Messrs Hutchison. Priest, and the .Secretary were appointed to wait on the Railway Department with reference to excursion fares on the occasion of the interprovincial fixtures. The Chairman said it wa6 thought advisable that some recognition should be made by the committee of Mr C. M. Gilray's services to football in Otago during the last few years, before that popular player left for England to further pursue his studies. Mr Gilray had done a lot for football within the province, and the union was desirous of recognising this. Several other members of the committee 6poke expressing the regret they felt at Mr Gilray's departure from football circles, and it was resolved to present him with a euitablv inscribed gold sovereign case this afterroon. THE SEXIOR FLAG. Mr Campbell brought up the matter of tho Flag fixtures, and asked what the Flag Committee intended to do regarding Saturday's match. Mr Harris said that, according to tr.o rules, the flag should be awarded on a percentage of points. Mr Hutchison: Supposing both Southern and University win their matches next Saturday, what is the decision? Mr Cavanagh said he thought that in that case a match should be arranged between University and Taieri Rovers. Mr Wilson said it was an understood thing when the bye was given at the beginning of the season that Taieri Rovers was to have the option of playing the match some time during the season. It was agreed to follow this cours-e. RESIGNATION. Mr Lilburne tendered his resignation as a member of the committee, the rea^n being that he was leaving Duredin for Tnvercargill. He had, he eajd, alway3 endeavoured to do his best in the interests of Rugby football in Otago. He was sorry that this step was unavoidable. Mr Lilburne's resignation was accepted with regret, the Chairman expressing the hope that his voice would be heard on the Southland Commitree before long. FIPvST GRADE. ' Ravensbourne — met. Playing with the sun behind and the slope of the ground, Ravensbourne had somewhat the best of matters in tKe first spell, but were unable to score. Shortly after starting the second spell Morrison scored for DunedLn from a smart passing rush, Snow adding the major points. From this on the play was very fast, Ravensbourne making desperate efforts to score, but were unable to pierce the defence. The forwards on both sides played , well, but the Ravensbourne had a big advantage over the smaller Dunedin paok on the outline, the latter counter-balancing this by a superiority in the loose. The i backs on both sides defended well, but the Dunedin rearguard showed a much better knowledge of the attacking game than their opponents. The result of the match places Dunedin in the lead for the banner, one point ahead of Ravensbourne. Mr W. ' Bridges was an efficient referee. Zingari-Richmojid gained their match, against Port Chalmers by default. THIRD GRADE. Alhambra defeated Kaikorai by 36 to nil. Dunedin defeated Port Chalmers at Port by 4 points (a goal potted by Jack Brennan) to nil. Mr A. Archer gave every satisfaction as referee. Zingari claim their match against Union by default. v FOURTH GRADE. Southern B defeated Pirates on Forbury Park by 23 points to nil. Tries were scored by Reid (4), J. Irvine, I*. Irvine, and H. Brown, while R. Aitken converted one. Dunedin defeated Southern A by 29 points to nil. D. Robertson W, M'Lean (♦) scored tries, and Tarleton -kicked a. goal from a mark and converted one of the tries. Zingari won their match against Alhambra by default.
