ROBBERIES IN WELLINGTON.
FOUR MEN ARRESTED. ON SUSPICION. . WELLINGTON, July ZT. ~ A large safe in Lacey and Co. J s fruit market was dynamited during 'last night and about £40 stolen. The place was entered ,by an upstairs' window, which was reached from .the roof -of the adjoining building. * The burglars made no attempt to deaden the sound, but did the dynamiting boldly. The explosion caused, some damage in the office. -■'•-> --.."-. July ,28. . The Wellington detectives yesterckjf . apprehended four men 'on Suspicion of - being the perpetrators of the -recent robberies'- tx jewellery and money, of the value of £100,' from the residence of Mr Jerald Fitzgerald, jeweller, and money totalling £150 in value from Mr T. G. -M'Arthy'r house, a silver watch from Miss Hannah Watson, and jewellery valued at £16 from, the Masonic Hotel, Wellington. The names of the accused are Cyril Cosgrove, alias Furlong, George Ferris, William Robert Sinclair, and John Hanlilton. Cosgrove arrived recently from -Tasmania, and the other three earner from South Africa,' Hamilton and Sinclair were- arrested in their lodgings, where the I detectives were concealed in a wardrobe. I -lamilton. was in possession of a loaded revolver. ' • . "" , The four men, Cyril Cosgrove, John Hamilton, George Ferris, and. William Robert Sinclair, who were arrested on Saturday, were before the court to-day on various charges of burglariously entering premises and stealing goods and money. The accused pleaded .
