FIRES.

(Fhom Oto Own Cohhespootjknt.J CROMWELL, July 24. 'A four-roomed house and furniture, owned by Mr George Lawrence, was burnt to the ground last night at Bannockburn. There is an insurance of £200 in the Guardian office. TIMARU, July 29. j Between 7 and 8 o'clock last night a houee at St. Andrews,, occupied by €©nvfatble Fitzgerald,, was completely destroyed by fire. No one was at home at the time. •lie constable left home at 7 o'clock, when, there was no sign of fire, but at 8 o'clock the house was destroyed. Incendiarism is inspected. The house was insured in the Royal Office for £275, and the furniture in the New Zealand Office for £100. The . constable estimates his loss at £150. WELLINGTON, July 25. Portion of the fellmongery at the- Wellington Meat Export Company's works at Ngahauranga was-destroyed by fire, with its contents, to-night. The employees, with -the fire-fighting plant, prevented the flames from spreading. Th£ damage and insurance are unknown yet. July 26. Portion of the felhnongery at the Wellington Meat Export Company' c works was destroyed by fixe last night. It was the second outbreak in the came building within a month. The upstairs portion of \ Jne fellmongery was destroyed, and the contents were also burnt. These included a considerable quantity of wool, a large motor and generator, and several drying machines. The machinery on the ground floor was damaged by water. The workmen used a large Merryweather fine engine I with good resuH*, and the city fire brigade also rendered excellent service, despite tne fact that it was summoned at a rather late stage. The building was insured in the Alliance and other offices for £3550, and the plant, electrical fittings, etc., in the same offices for £3080. The insurances on the wool *.re not available.
