FORGERIEN IN AUCKLAND.
A PRISONER FAINTS IN COURT. AUCKLAND, July 22. " A tall, delicate-looting man named William Anderson, with a number of ' aliases, was oharged at the Police Court to-day with forging and uttering several cheques on various tradespeople in town. Accused, who pleaded guilty, gave no explanation as to why he had perpetrated the forgeries, involving altogether som« £5 or £6. He. was convicted and was about to be committed for sentence when, he fainted and had to be removed from the court. He was brought back into the court later and duly committed. Edgar Hodgson was oharged by Detective Marsaek, on behalf of the poUoe, before the Stipendiary Magistrate with forging a. cheque for £4- on the Bank of New South Wales, and. also with obtaining £2 from Edward M'Ginley by means of a valueless cheque. Hodgson pleaded " Guilty," stating that, as a result of a kiok from a. horse three yea™ ago, a glass or two of drink drove him silly. About a month ago his father was drowned, and a recenji drinking bout had taken place as the result. Accused was convicted and com- • mitted to the Supreme Court for "sentence*
