A BROKEN SHAFT. BRISBANE, December 31. The steamer Prinz Sigismund, which has arrived from New Guinea, ropoith the arrival of the missing steamer Rangatira at Fiederick Wilhehnshaven (in German New Guinea) with a broken shaft. The Rangatira expected to leave there yesterday for Sydney. The captain of the Prinz Sigismund (states that the Rangatira bioke her piopeller shaft on November 18 when in lat. 5 N., long. 132 E. She drifted till December 10, when her engineeis succeeded in coupling the broken shaft. The captain then took the vessel veiy slowly to German New Guinea, where she was lightered and a cofferdam erected round her stern. When the Prinz Sigismund left efforts were being mad-e to put in a reserve shaft, and Captain Chudley hoped to be able to resume his vo\ age to Sydney on December 30.
