SOUTHLAND HORTICULTURAL SHOW. INVERCARGILL, October 10.

The Southland Horticultural Society's spring show, held in the Zealandia Hall to-day, was a record one as regards the number of exhibits and the attendance of the public. The show was held quite a fortnight too late, but the quality of the flowers was extremely good. The principal prize-takers were Mos3rs Lonnic and Sons, Messrs Edginton Bros., F. O. Bmkh. A. B. Hageitt, C. S. Longuet, R. Meredith, R. W. Porter, Reg. Day, Neil Porter, and J. Pinuiuy. Among- other attractions put on exhibition only w-er« a fine collection of

roses by Mr Patohett, a very fine lot o» mountain lillies, the corporation exhibit of plants, and a number of decorated tablea. The judge (Mr Marshall, of Dunedin) was surpVi^d and pleased with the number and! quality of the exhibits, and was very thorough in his judging. Tho management was entirely satisfactory, and tho financial result most gratifying.
