EXPORT OF WOOI.

(Fmou Ottb Own ComespondiktJ WELLINGTON, July 23. A return of the wool exported from th« colony for the 12 months ended June 30 last has been supplied by Mr A. H. Miles, resident partner in the firm of Murray, Roberts, and Co. The figures, which show a substantial increase on the previous" year's output, are particularly interesting! in the light of the capital prices that wero realised. To cay that these prices -were) satisfactory hardly conveys how well the producers and brokers have done during the pa3t year. But it will convey eomo idea to the general public to state that tbft prices were just about double what thejt were five years ago, when the sheep-farmec was not assumed to be in at all a badi plight. With prices co exceedingly favourable, special efforts har« been put lorth to get a.ll the available wool to market, and the result is that the colony has in t/ha year 1905-6 exported 415,381 bales— 2B,l72 bales in excess of the previous year's output, which in turn was 10,467 boles itt excess of the year 1903^4. In going back" still another 12 months it is Been that this year's returns are 13,000 bales short of the quantity -exported in 1902-3, when' 428,768 bales left New Zealand. Of the increase shown this year {says the New Zealand Times) it is satisfactory to 'note that Wellington contributes nearly a third, the quantity shipped from this port having jumped], from 104,212 io 113,311 bales, and easSy maintains a. big lead over all other ports ol shipment in the colony. L.yttekon shipped the next largest qnantrty, but evea blocking that port with Timaru the quantity is over 6900 bales short of Hie numbe* of 'bales sent out froro Wellington.
