OAMARU GRAIN AND PRODUCE MARKET. (From Our Own Correspondent.) OAMARU, August 5.
The wheat market shows a Iktle more activity than last week, though things are still quiet. Millers still hold fair stocks, and are not inclined to concede the prices asked by holders. Tuscan and red chaff are in some request, but the supply is restricted. A line of good Tuscan brought 3s 6d net, delivered in Oamaru. and parcels cf red chaff and velvet have been taken at 3s 4d and 3s 5d at sidings, less commission, while 3s 2Ad and 3a 3d net have also been paid. Oats show a slight revival in the demand, one parcel 'of nearly 700 sacks of Gartons having brought 2s ljd net at a country siding. Other sales have been made at equivalent to 2s to 2s ljd net, and at 2s 3d and 2s 3Jd f.o.b. Barley is sparingly offered, and the samples fai) to command top prices. Potatoes have advanced in value, table Deiwents having brought £9 15s to £10 at country sidings, and £11 to £11, f.0.b.. for shipment north. Further inquiries have been onet, and by higher quotations. For Up-to-Detes" and British Queens as much as £1$ has been paid.
